About the position

The Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing (VP) at Missouri Western State University is a pivotal leadership role that requires a creative, strategic, and energetic individual. Reporting directly to the president, the VP serves as the chief enrollment officer and chief communications officer for the institution, playing a critical role in shaping the future of the University. This position demands the ability to develop a dynamic and data-informed vision for the enrollment management division, which includes student success and support services, recruitment targets, and the capacity to inspire and motivate the admissions and marketing teams. The VP will engage personally with students, parents, high schools, non-traditional students, and other external constituencies, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and a desire to collaborate with all areas across campus to enhance community and alumni relationships. The VP must possess strong analytical abilities to drive prospective student engagement and enrollment planning. They will articulate the strengths and values of Missouri Western to St. Joseph and the greater Kansas City metropolitan area through integrated marketing across various channels, ensuring the delivery of the university brand while coordinating media relations, internal communications, and social media efforts. Additionally, the VP will take an active role in recruitment processes, overseeing admissions, marketing, and communications, as well as conferences, camps, and events. Essential duties include developing and implementing a strategic enrollment management plan aligned with marketing and communications campaigns, creating and revising enrollment guidelines and goals, collaborating with senior leaders to deliver achievable projects, and managing communications to enhance the university's public image. The VP will also oversee new student orientation best practices, student retention initiatives, and the procurement of grants that support student engagement and success. Furthermore, the role involves fostering communication with various stakeholders, enhancing diversity and inclusion efforts, managing the division's budget, and supervising staff while serving on relevant committees.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic enrollment management plan aligned with marketing and communications campaigns.
  • Create, implement, assess, and revise enrollment guidelines and goals based on enrollment strategies for undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders to plan, prioritize, and deliver achievable projects and programs that advance the University's long-term vision.
  • Oversee the creative team that provides creative assets for deployment in a competitive marketplace.
  • Develop and facilitate strong partnerships with other schools and entities to yield well-prepared transfer students or workforce development opportunities.
  • Manage internal and external communications, including media relations and public image, and support University leadership.
  • Oversee implementation of best practices for new student orientation.
  • Assist in identifying, developing, and implementing student retention initiatives.
  • Take a leadership role in the procurement of grants that support student engagement and success.
  • Develop and foster communication with students, parents, faculty, community agencies, alumni, and the general public.
  • Guide and establish partnerships with external parties for access to university facilities.
  • Enhance efforts to build a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community.
  • Oversee the hiring and evaluation of staff and provide opportunities for professional development.
  • Manage the division's budget and resource allocations.
  • Supervise employees and serve on committees as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in any academic discipline.
  • Significant higher education enrollment management experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
