About the position

The Vice President of Finance and Operations is a key leadership role at Minnesota North College, overseeing the financial and operational aspects of the institution across its six campuses in Northeast Minnesota, including Hibbing, Itasca, Mesabi Range (Eveleth & Virginia), Rainy River, and Vermilion. This position is pivotal in providing vision and strategic direction for the college's budget development, fiscal affairs, facilities management, and auxiliary enterprises. The Vice President will also lead institutional research, information technology, risk management, and safety/security programs, ensuring that all operations align with the college's mission and goals. As a member of the Executive Leadership and President Leadership Teams, the Vice President of Finance and Operations will collaborate closely with the college President and other senior leaders to develop and implement policies and strategies that enhance the financial health and operational efficiency of the college. This role requires a strong understanding of higher education finance, as well as the ability to forecast and monitor budgets effectively. The Vice President will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards, while fostering a culture of transparency and accountability within the college's financial operations. The position entails occasional travel to various Minnesota North College campuses, allowing for direct engagement with campus operations and stakeholders. The Vice President will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the college through effective financial management and operational leadership, ultimately contributing to the success of students and the broader community.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Proven experience in financial management and operations within higher education or a similar environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills for budget development and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of institutional research and information technology best practices.
  • Experience in risk management and safety/security program implementation.
