About the position

The Vice President of Finance at L'Alliance New York is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organization, including accounting, budgeting, financial planning, reporting, and cash management. This role plays a crucial part in supporting the leadership team and ensuring the financial health of the organization, which is dedicated to providing educational and cultural programming. The Vice President will also manage the finance team and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while developing strategies to enhance financial management and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Hires, manages and evaluates finance staff.
  • Presents quarterly to the Board of Trustees.
  • Supports leadership in operations, strategy, and financial planning.
  • Directs development of accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Recommends and implements policies to strengthen financial management.
  • Helps develop a business plan for the Language Center and other departments.
  • Maintains effective communication with finance staff and board committees.
  • Directs preparation of budgets and financial reports.
  • Directs risk management and legal compliance matters.
  • Oversees annual independent audit.
  • Establishes relationships with financial service providers.
  • Executes bank transactions including loans and investments.
  • Supplies development team with data for grant applications.
  • Develops and administers benefit programs.
  • Evaluates and recommends annual benefit package adjustments.
  • Manages office management and building services.
  • Participates in negotiation of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Oversees development and management of information systems.
  • Performs other duties as required by the President.

Requirements

  • Graduate management degree (MBA or MPA) in Finance or related field desirable.
  • Five or more years of financial management in the non-profit sector with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Minimum five years of supervisory experience.
