About the position

The Vice President of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications (VPFMC) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all fundraising, marketing, communications, and community relations activities for CMHA. Reporting directly to the CEO, the VPFMC will collaborate with the senior management team and governing board to implement strategies that align with the organization's vision and goals. This position plays a critical role in enhancing CMHA's mission impact and organizational growth by developing key external alliances and diversifying the donor base.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and manage the development/communications/marketing program designed to meet the goals and objectives as defined by the strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Board of Directors to execute and facilitate fundraising and communications strategies.
  • Develop annual revenue goals, track and report regularly to CEO, Board of Directors, and Senior Management.
  • Develop a donor cultivation plan; meet with existing and prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish and maintain relationships.
  • Work in close partnership with CEO, Board of Directors, and development staff to optimize the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors.
  • Establish and implement an annual calendar of fundraising and communications activities.
  • Actively seek and maintain positive relationships with business partners, governmental entities, donors, volunteers, the community at large, and other public agencies to increase knowledge and enhance partnerships.
  • Directly supervise and support the Development Team to ensure optimization of each team member.
  • Oversee production of all communications materials, including funding proposals, grants, direct-mail letters, and the annual report.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required with a preferred emphasis in fundraising, marketing, public relations, communications, or business.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • 10-plus years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in development functions managing relationships with multiple donor sources.
  • Minimum five years' experience in overseeing and leading other staff with a flexible and adaptive style.
  • Outstanding customer service, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Experience cultivating major donors with a proven track record of personally engaging and stewarding donors and sponsors.
  • Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plans and initiatives.
  • Strong organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
