About the position

The Vice President (VP) of Hospital Operations and Chief Nursing Executive at Gillette Children's provides strategic leadership and oversight for hospital operations, focusing on inpatient care units, perioperative services, and pharmacy services. This role is pivotal in advancing nursing practice, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and enhancing patient care quality and safety. The VP collaborates closely with the Executive Leadership Team and medical directors to foster an interdisciplinary approach to patient care, ensuring that services are both standardized and personalized to meet patient and family needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for hospital-based inpatient care units, perioperative services, and pharmacy services.
  • Lead initiatives to advance clinical practice through evidence-based practices and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Ensure quality of care, patient safety, and patient and family satisfaction.
  • Engage staff and providers to promote a positive work environment and appropriate revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team and Chief Medical Officer to support hospital operations.
  • Supervise departments including Inpatient Units, Surgical Services, and Nursing Administration.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in nursing (MSN), Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP), Healthcare Administration, Business, or related advanced degree.
  • Current RN licensure.
  • A minimum of five years of experience as a nurse executive leader.
  • Skills to articulate a vision, inspire others, and set high expectations for achievement.
  • Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based practice implementation and clinical protocol development.
  • Strong conflict management and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a pediatric hospital or pediatric clinic setting.
  • Master's degree with a concentration in management or healthcare.
  • Nurse Executive certification (NEA-BC or CENP).
  • Experience leading or contributing to a successful Magnet designation or re-designation process.
