About the position

The position is responsible for the overall management of the RIAC Operations and Maintenance departments, which encompass Airfield Maintenance, Airport Operations, Public Safety, and General Aviation. The role involves providing leadership to a diverse team, ensuring compliance with aviation standards, managing budgets, and enhancing airport operations while fostering a customer-centric approach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to a diverse team of RIAC staff, ensuring cohesive teamwork and safe operations.
  • Oversee all vendors and consulting services related to the Operations Department.
  • Develop and execute departmental strategic plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with aviation mandates and standards in operations and safety.
  • Manage budgets for airside and terminal operations, ensuring efficient resource use.
  • Collaborate with organizational leaders to develop comprehensive emergency response plans.
  • Oversee allocation of common-use resources and collaborate with stakeholders to optimize operations.
  • Advise executives on projects and represent the organization in public engagements.
  • Engage with the public to gather feedback and address concerns, fostering a positive public image.
  • Identify capital improvement opportunities to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in aviation management or related field required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive management experience at a commercial airport.
  • Thorough working knowledge of 49 CFR Part 139 airport certification compliance.
  • Experience in direct management of collective bargaining units strongly preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) certification preferred.
  • Active participation in airport trade organizations preferred.
  • Experience with snow removal operations at airports preferred.
  • Knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the Incident Command System.
