About the position

The Vice President of Operations for the Northern Region of the RWJBH Heart & Vascular Service Line is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the operational effectiveness and strategic direction of the service line. This position requires a strong focus on program development, financial management, and performance improvement, ensuring high-quality service delivery and alignment with organizational goals. The VP will lead initiatives to enhance cardiac care coordination across the system and optimize market share while fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on local and national cardiac service line trends and issues.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the work of the service line in support of achieving strategic goals.
  • Assume oversight and develop an integrated reporting structure for the service line's operational areas and integrated leadership groups.
  • Translate financial, operational, and administrative data into strategic intelligence and business plans.
  • Lead the initiative to coordinate cardiac care across the system, increasing connectivity to RWJBH hospitals, specialists, and ancillary services.
  • Direct and oversee informatics for service line strategy across all financial, quality, and clinical committees.
  • Develop a collaborative change environment through open communication and innovative problem solving.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of provider and practice performance metrics with compensation recognitions consistent with value-based care models.
  • Optimize overall cardiovascular market share and mix of services.
  • Enhance referral opportunities by evaluating current and future sources while eliminating barriers to success.
  • Identify and execute on opportunities for process improvements, growth, and development.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior executives on service line performance.
  • Work collaboratively with hospital, medical group, and physician leadership to ensure program goals and quality services are maintained.
  • Ensure financial success of the service line including billing, collecting, payor contracting, productivity, denial management, and expense management.
  • Support regulatory and accrediting efforts.
  • Assist in creating a physician and advanced practice provider workforce plan for resource deployment.
  • Optimize service capacity and productivity to improve patient access, experience, and retention.
  • Monitor and improve patient service keepage levels across the health system.
  • Oversee annual operating and capital budgets.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field and/or clinical background is required.
  • Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible management experience associated with cardiovascular services and/or medical practice management.
  • Proven commitment to quality service delivery and achieving organizational mission.
  • Proven track record in both strategic planning and operational effectiveness.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills necessary to evaluate and execute strategic initiatives.
