About the position

The Vice President of Operations and Property at the James Beard Foundation will lead and manage the organization's property portfolio and operational functions, ensuring efficiency and alignment with strategic objectives. This role involves overseeing the Foundation's key properties, optimizing operational performance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The VP will work closely with senior leadership and external consultants to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, particularly in light of the Foundation's rapid expansion.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the overall operations and financial performance of the Foundation's operations at Pier 57, including public programming and retail sales.
  • Manage relationship with the Foundation's third-party operator to ensure optimal delivery within budget and quality standards.
  • Lead the internal Pier 57 team toward strategic and budgetary goals.
  • Oversee box-office ticketing and inventory optimization against budget.
  • Serve as staff lead on the Board of Trustees property committee, reporting quarterly on Pier 57 performance.
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations at the Beard House, including maintenance and event execution.
  • Manage maintenance of office and meeting space, including IT and conferencing technology.
  • Oversee all technology operations and evaluate according to established goals.
  • Lead discussions regarding future office space needs in partnership with leadership and the Board of Trustees.

Requirements

  • At least eight years' experience in a leadership position in hospitality or venue management.
  • Deep knowledge and skill in P&L and budget management.
  • Experience in analysis, implementation, and evaluation of IT systems.
  • Sound understanding of computer systems, networks, and ticketing/reservations platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort with public speaking.
  • Ability to foster strong working relationships and manage a team effectively.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
