About the position

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking a visionary leader for the role of Vice President of Operations/Site Director. This key member of upper management will be responsible for ensuring that the company's everyday activities run smoothly and efficiently. The Vice President will oversee Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering, setting parameters to evaluate operational effectiveness and efficiency. This role is crucial in targeting areas for improvement in operational efficiencies, including achieving revenue and shipment targets, monitoring revenue margins, and enhancing worker productivity. The VP of Operations will also drive product lead time reductions and implement new directives for growth. In this position, the Vice President will work closely with the Vice President and General Manager to form and execute the annual business plan, providing consistent and accurate information for daily, weekly, and monthly forecasting. Critical daily tasks will involve making business decisions that ensure predictability in monthly and quarterly performance. The role includes leading the coordination of business flow from purchase order review to procurement of materials and services, production planning, and execution of orders through to shipment of products to customers. The Vice President of Operations/Site Director will maintain regular contact with customers to align business operations with customer needs and requirements. Responsibilities include providing management oversight to Supply Chain Management, Material Planning/Control, and Manufacturing, as well as managing the day-to-day operations to drive on-time deliveries and predictable production flow. The VP will build strong working relationships with functional leaders, particularly in Quality and Engineering, to meet manufacturing objectives. Additionally, the role involves making make/buy decisions for manufacturing processes and developing a long-term strategy for contract manufacturing. The Vice President will also be responsible for monitoring Sales Forecasts to ensure production rates are optimal, preparing and presenting operational scorecards and high-level reports to senior leadership, and implementing best-in-class business processes. This includes leading process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, performance, and productivity, while effectively managing resources, departmental budgets, and staffing plans. The VP will oversee the technical and professional development of the Manufacturing Operations function and manage direct reports in various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering operations.
  • Ensure efficient and effective operations organization.
  • Achieve revenue and shipment targets while monitoring revenue margins.
  • Drive product lead time reductions and implement growth directives.
  • Set guidelines for personnel evaluations, recruitment, and advancement.
  • Coordinate business flow from purchase order review to shipment of products.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in leading and managing a manufacturing organization.
  • Strong preference for a background in Defense and/or RF Microwave.
  • Experience running a $50M+ highly technical manufacturing operation.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or Operations related postgraduate degree preferred.
  • US Citizen and able to attain Security Clearance.
  • Understanding of standard manufacturing practices and AS9000/ISO9001 quality requirements.
  • Successful track record for building and maintaining strong internal and external customer relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and make timely business decisions.
  • Understanding of financial impacts of decisions.
  • Champion of diversity and inclusion.

Nice-to-haves

  • 4 year Technical Degree or higher.
  • Prior experience in improving manufacturing outputs and implementing lean manufacturing principles.
