About the position

MV Transportation is seeking a Vice President of Operations who will guide and lead the daily operation of the service in compliance with the policies of the client agency, company policy, and in conformance with company procedures. This position will have responsibility for daily system performance with a focus on P&L, Labor, Client Relations, and other Senior Level Operations. The Vice President of Operations (VPO) will play a crucial role in ensuring that all aspects of customer service, operations, financial results, people management, maintenance, and safety are effectively managed across multiple locations. The VPO will closely monitor operations, including daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and reviews, ensuring that expectations are communicated clearly to all General Managers. This role requires a strong leader who can coach and guide the General Managers of each operating location, stepping in as needed to fill in for them. Setting expectations for safety, financial performance, employee/labor relations, and client relations is a key responsibility. The VPO will ensure that safety regulations are observed and that all training methods are contractually and legally compliant, up to date, and effective. Additionally, the Vice President of Operations will conduct location audits and reviews, ensuring that client expectations and contract requirements are met. The role involves project management and oversight of start-ups for new contracts, as well as developing and managing talent in the area, which includes hiring, coaching, and workforce planning. The VPO will work closely with Business Development and client relations, perform labor negotiations, and develop policies while coordinating closely with the Regional SVP and Regional Leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of customer service, operations, financial results, people, maintenance, and safety for multiple locations.
  • Monitors area closely, including daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and reviews.
  • Communicates expectations clearly to all General Managers.
  • Coaches and leads general managers of each operating location.
  • Fills in for General Manager as needed.
  • Sets expectations for safety, financial performance, employee/labor relations, and client relations.
  • Ensures safety regulations are being observed and all training methods are contractually and legally compliant, up to date, and effective.
  • Conducts location audits and reviews.
  • Ensures Client expectations and contract requirements are met.
  • Project management and oversight of start-ups for new contracts.

  • Works closely with Business Development and client relations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years of operations management experience in paratransit operations.
  • Experience in working with local governments or municipalities is key to success in this role.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Superior writing skills and excellent computer skills, including strength in Microsoft products with strong Excel skills a major plus.
  • Topflight verbal communication skills, including presenting and speaking in front of groups.
  • Prior leadership as a General Manager or other Senior Leadership role strongly preferred.
  • Excellent financial experience with creating budgets, P&L, and more.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple constituencies - employees, unions, government clients, and public ridership.
  • Ability to build effective relationships, negotiate, and handle labor arbitration and contracts.
