About the position

The Vice President of Operations at Wynne Transport Service, Inc. is responsible for overseeing and directing all operational aspects of the organization. This role focuses on ensuring efficient and compliant business processes while driving growth and profitability. The Vice President will lead operational teams, implement company policies, enhance customer relationships, and maximize operational efficiency across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of short-term and long-term operational and financial goals in alignment with the company's mission and strategic objectives.
  • Oversee and direct the daily operations of all departments, ensuring adherence to company policies and applicable laws, including compliance with DOT regulations for transportation and safety standards.
  • Lead the operations team, including fleet managers and departmental managers, to optimize fleet utilization, driver allocation, and overall operational performance.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously review operational policies and procedures to improve business processes, systems, and information flow.
  • Foster strong relationships with customers, drivers, and vendors to maintain and expand business opportunities, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and operational excellence.
  • Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators to assess the company's performance and identify opportunities for cost reduction, revenue generation, and operational improvements.
  • Develop and implement dashboard analytics to monitor operational progress and ensure departmental goals are met, adjusting strategies as necessary to align with organizational objectives.
  • Manage high-level negotiations with customers, vendors, and key partners, ensuring favorable contracts and sustainable business relationships.
  • Lead, motivate, and evaluate the work of departmental managers and staff to ensure that teams are aligned with business goals and operational standards.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive team, providing regular updates to the President and other stakeholders regarding operational progress and organizational performance.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities for growth and expansion.
  • Ensure resources are allocated efficiently across departments and that budgets are reviewed and adhered to by departmental managers.
  • Identify new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and market expansions to drive the company's growth.
  • Step in as a primary decision-maker in the absence of the President/CEO, ensuring business continuity and alignment with the company's strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in operational leadership or management, including significant experience in transportation operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of DOT regulations, fleet management, and logistics operations.
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and implement cost-saving strategies.
  • Proven track record in leadership, team management, and motivating staff to meet performance goals.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing operational challenges.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High-level negotiation skills and experience in managing key relationships with vendors, clients, and partners.
  • Ability to drive change and innovation within the organization and adapt to evolving market conditions.
  • Ability to lead by example, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture across departments.
