About the position

The Vice President of Operations is a pivotal role responsible for the overall management of standalone distribution center locations within the market. This position reports directly to the Regional Vice President of Operations and has a dotted line reporting relationship to the Area President, overseeing 1-3 distribution centers per area. The VP Operations is tasked with establishing long-term operational objectives that align with the broader business goals of the organization. This includes developing and executing a strategic plan for the operations department, ensuring that the various functions of shipping, receiving, transportation, purchasing, and sales are integrated effectively. The VP will engage with each function to clarify accountabilities and interdependencies, fostering collaboration to achieve the company's objectives. The VP will seek synergies and best practices to enhance productivity and improve customer service. Safety and compliance are critical aspects of this role, as the VP will guide operations management to adhere to government regulations and company policies, implementing programs that ensure safety, security, and ergonomic practices within the operations. Personnel management is another key responsibility, where the VP will delegate tasks to managers to meet productivity goals, enforce company policies, and oversee the performance of warehouse associates.
