About the position

The Vice President of Operations is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the operations of Community Centers within the YMCA of Central Ohio. This position focuses on promoting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility while managing complex operations and fostering a collaborative culture. The Vice President will lead center leadership, drive member engagement, and implement initiatives to strengthen the community and achieve organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises center leadership and staff to ensure sound operations.
  • Provides leadership and direction to the centers by coaching direct reports and other executives.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of plans for maintenance and improvements to existing properties, facilities, and equipment.
  • Monitors monthly financial reports to ensure revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled.
  • Partners closely with the CFO to ensure financial performance aligns with Association targets and goals.
  • Works with other leaders on the Executive Team to ensure cross collaboration throughout YMCA Business lines.
  • Builds intentional relationships with other Business line leaders to foster a culture of support and trust.
  • Provides leadership to various assigned groups and teams to ensure YMCA leaders meet their career objectives.
  • Ensures the highest levels of safety and performance for all center operations while serving the community.
  • Monitors key results areas and provides effective management by anticipating problems and taking corrective action.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, human services, business, or social services, or equivalent experience.
  • Eight or more years of progressive professional experience managing multiple product lines and services, and multi-location operations.
  • YMCA or non-profit experience preferred.
  • YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred; if not certified, should obtain certification within 2 years.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience developing effective teams that deliver organizational-wide services and effective end-user member services.
  • Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
