About the position

As Veo's Vice President of Operations, you will take charge of the entire operations function of the business, leading a large, talented, and highly-distributed team to tackle the most complex challenges in the micromobility industry. Your primary objective will be to achieve financial targets, including revenue and profitability, while building world-class teams and delivering an exceptional experience to our riders. You will be a key member of the leadership team, collaborating closely with the founders to shape the strategic direction of the company. In this role, you will own the operations functions of the business and report directly to the President and co-founder. You will be responsible for delivering key financial targets and operations OKRs, managing the P&L across all markets, and identifying problems to build plans that drive implementation for improved revenue and profitability. You will develop and own operations KPIs, such as fleet uptime and labor productivity, making data-driven decisions to foster continuous improvement. Your leadership will extend to building and leading teams across various operational areas, including market operations, central operations, and business operations. You will set day-to-day priorities, hold teams accountable for results, and manage the quarterly budget while planning resources and overseeing change management decisions. Additionally, you will drive new initiatives and improvements in systems and tools to enhance operational efficiency, create structures for effective collaboration, and work closely with engineering, finance, HR, partnerships, and supply chain teams to achieve company objectives. Frequent travel to local markets will be required, and you will develop close relationships with front-line workers to ensure operational success. As a core member of Veo's leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's strategy and direction for growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own the operations functions of the business and report directly to the President & co-founder
  • Responsible for delivering key financial targets and operations OKRs
  • Manage P&L across all markets
  • Identify problems, build plans and drive implementation to improve revenue and profitability
  • Develop and own operations KPIs, including fleet uptime and labor productivity; make data-driven decisions to drive continuous improvement
  • Lead market operations (GMs, OMs, field teams), central operations (fleet health, efficiency, compliance, launch), and business operations (vendors management, warehouses and vans, safety, procurement) teams
  • Set day-to-day priorities and ownership for the teams; hold the teams accountable for delivering the results
  • Own quarterly budget, plan resources, and make decisions regarding change management in the team
  • Drive new initiatives and improvements in systems & tools to enhance operational efficiency
  • Create structures and processes to ensure effective collaborations between teams
  • Set clear strategy and direction for scale and remove bottlenecks
  • Work closely with engineering, finance, HR, partnership, and supply chain teams to deliver company objectives and key initiatives
  • Travel frequently to local markets
  • Develop close relationships with front-line workers
  • Shape the strategy for Veo as a core member of Veo's leadership team

Requirements

  • B.S/M.S in Management, Logistics, Engineering, or related field; MBA is a plus
  • 15+ years experience in operations management, business consulting, or related field in a fast-paced, operations-focused environment
  • Proven track record in managing large teams in complex environments
  • Experience working in startups; ability to operate effectively with lean resources, changing priorities, and ambiguity
  • Ability to think strategically and act practically
  • An operational leader with a bias for execution who seeks to identify and drive improvements at all levels
  • Must be data-driven and know how to use data to tell a compelling story
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time
