About the position

The Vice President of Veterinary Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the operations of multiple veterinary hospitals. This position requires a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree and a minimum of five years of experience in managing veterinary hospitals, particularly in multi-site operations. The VP will ensure operational excellence, maintain high-quality patient care, and lead a team of veterinary professionals while also being involved in hands-on veterinary care when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of multiple veterinary hospitals, ensuring consistency in service quality, client satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to optimize hospital performance, grow business opportunities, and enhance patient care across all locations.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and development of veterinary and support staff, fostering a positive work culture.
  • Monitor budgets, financial performance, and resource allocation to ensure cost-effective operations while maintaining high-quality care.
  • Ensure that veterinary hospitals are well-maintained, adequately staffed, and compliant with industry regulations.
  • Maintain high standards of patient care and client interaction, ensuring alignment with the hospital's core values and mission.
  • Manage the complexities of overseeing multiple hospital locations, ensuring consistency in service delivery and standards of care.
  • Provide direct veterinary care, perform surgeries, and assist with clinical responsibilities as needed.
  • Work closely with the executive leadership team, medical directors, and other department heads to align operational goals with broader organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing veterinary hospitals, with specific experience in multi-site operations.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience in managing, mentoring, and developing teams of veterinary professionals.
  • Strong understanding of financials, budgeting, and strategic planning within a veterinary setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, clients, and leadership teams.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
