About the position

The Vice President of Philanthropy is responsible for leading and managing all fund development programs at Glencroft Center for Modern Aging. This role involves directing the development staff, overseeing grant writing, annual giving, and capital campaigns, while closely collaborating with the President and CEO, the Board of Trustees, and key volunteers to generate philanthropic revenue. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to serving geriatric and disabled individuals, along with a customer service-oriented approach to fundraising and staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the planning, implementation, and administration of all fund development programs.
  • Manage and provide leadership to the development staff.
  • Conduct research and identify potential contributors from various sources.
  • Oversee fundraising activities including major gift cultivation, capital campaign management, and donor stewardship programs.
  • Communicate effectively with the Board of Trustees, staff, volunteers, and donor prospects.
  • Create and manage the foundation's annual and long-range plans for fundraising.
  • Establish agendas for board and committee meetings in consultation with the CEO.
  • Plan and present programs to promote Glencroft's ministries to internal and external audiences.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to assigned employees and conduct annual performance evaluations.
  • Oversee the grants coordinator in writing, submitting, and following up on grants.
  • Represent Glencroft at civic and community functions.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with current and potential donors.
  • Provide leadership to advisory councils, committees, and boards as assigned.
  • Prepare and monitor the departmental annual budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • 5 years of recent fundraising experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Significant experience leading a capital campaign is highly desirable.
  • Excellent human relations and communication skills, particularly with older adults.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and make decisions in a busy environment.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of planned giving software.

  • Experience in a non-profit organization.
  • Familiarity with geriatric care and services.
