About the position

The Vice President of Plant Operations will oversee a team dedicated to enhancing occupancy, increasing revenue, and reducing operational costs through effective community maintenance, housekeeping, and grounds services. This role is crucial in ensuring that the physical plants of the communities meet brand standards through a comprehensive annual capital expenditure program.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Leadership and Operations to define and maintain brand standards for Volante Senior Living communities.
  • Establish performance standards and quality expectations focused on resident experience.
  • Develop metrics and key performance indicators to measure portfolio performance and ensure high-quality, low-cost service delivery.
  • Institute community assessments to evaluate maintenance and housekeeping effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership and Executive Directors on annual capital expenditure planning and major capital projects.
  • Manage the TELs program for all locations.
  • Develop and manage annual capital plans prioritizing investments that support corporate goals and enhance resident experience.
  • Create contracts for operating and modernization activities, including bid solicitation and contract awards.
  • Validate warranty guidelines before work to avoid violations.
  • Provide emergency assistance services and preparedness programs during adverse conditions.
  • Inspect and validate preventative and corrective maintenance work during site inspections.
  • Provide technical expertise on maintenance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal standards and regulations, including OSHA.
  • Coordinate with Procurement for engaging external vendors and contractors, ensuring adherence to contracts.
  • Monitor maintenance staff effectiveness and assess training needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, business, or related fields preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in facility management in a portfolio environment.
  • Experience in senior living is a plus.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems or software is required.
  • Management/supervisory experience is necessary.
  • Familiarity with Safety Standards Acts, OSHA, and applicable federal and state safety standards is highly desirable.
  • Formal training or experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc., is beneficial.
  • HVAC Certification preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to travel by air or car regularly, with potential overnight stays.
  • Proficiency in software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and property management programs is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and high accuracy are essential.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, deadline-driven environment.
