The Vice President of Purchasing is a pivotal role within Performance Food Group, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the purchasing function for the business. This includes ensuring customer service and satisfaction, managing working capital through effective inventory management, and leading the hiring, training, coaching, and counseling of all staff members. The position is designed to achieve corporate goals as established by the senior management team and functions as a leader within the department as well as a member of the senior leadership team. The Vice President will perform any duties assigned to best serve the company, ensuring that the purchasing department operates at a high level of productivity and efficiency. In this role, the Vice President will supervise various functions, including staffing, training, coaching, performance management, and problem resolution. A key responsibility is to manage inventory in a way that enhances the company's financial position, focusing on achieving optimum working capital, managing obsolete inventory, and improving cash flow and EBITDA contribution while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. The Vice President will develop relationships and programs with suppliers that drive bottom-line performance through efficiencies, brand growth, and market positioning. The position requires interaction with customers and vendors in a friendly, timely, and quality manner, ensuring that all inquiries are answered accurately and promptly. Establishing and maintaining standards for customer service is crucial, as is ensuring that the department meets these standards. The Vice President will also hold suppliers accountable for inbound performance and continuously improve processes and procedures to increase the efficiency of the purchasing department. Additionally, the Vice President will work closely with the senior leadership team, procurement department, PFG corporate, and customers to create innovative solutions for the business, including SKU rationalization and the growth of PFG brands. Setting a standard of professional and collaborative behavior when interacting with other departments, leaders, company personnel, customers, vendors, and other business stakeholders is essential. The role may also involve performing other related duties as assigned.
