About the position

The Vice President of Risk Management for Affordable Housing at Conifer Realty is responsible for developing and leading comprehensive risk management strategies to minimize injuries and illnesses among associates and residents, ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulations, and protect company assets. This role emphasizes fostering a safety culture across the organization and involves collaboration with various departments to implement effective risk management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Risk Management Department, directing and administering a comprehensive risk management program.
  • Work closely with insurance consultants and brokers, and collaborate with various internal departments.
  • Serve on leadership committees addressing risk management issues.
  • Plan and forecast the annual budget for Risk Management.
  • Develop management tools and reports to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Communicate risk management policies and procedures effectively.
  • Maintain knowledge of OSHA and regulatory safety requirements for compliance.
  • Oversee the company's environmental program and risk treatment processes.
  • Direct corporate risk financing alternatives for optimal coverage.
  • Manage the renewal and administration of insured and self-insured programs.
  • Evaluate and negotiate insurance products and coverage specifications.
  • Oversee claims processes and collaborate with legal and claims adjusters.
  • Coordinate with departments to implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Review and analyze Risk Management Information Systems functionalities.
  • Develop a company-wide system for enterprise risk management and integrate it into business practices.
  • Manage the recruitment and performance of the Risk Management staff.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of relevant Risk Management experience with demonstrated insurance policy administration.
  • 10-15 years of knowledge in risk management activities such as risk identification, loss control, and employee safety.
  • Ability to conduct research, collect and analyze data, and prepare reports.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in business with a concentration in Risk Management or related field.
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification.
