About the position

The Vice President of Sales and Marketing at M/I Homes is responsible for leading the sales department and implementing effective marketing strategies to achieve sales goals and profit potentials. This role involves motivating the sales staff, analyzing market needs, developing training programs, and ensuring customer satisfaction while maintaining the company's market leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and motivates sales staff to achieve weekly, monthly, and yearly sales goals.
  • Analyzes staffing needs and develops product and sales training programs.
  • Reviews market analysis to determine customer needs and volume potential.
  • Identifies and implements strategic marketing plans to achieve maximum results.
  • Gathers and analyzes competitive information to secure market share.
  • Establishes and maintains division sales and marketing budgets.
  • Acts as liaison between sales staff and homeowners to resolve issues.
  • Conducts sales staff meetings and coordinates with production departments.
  • Monitors sales contracts and loan statuses to expedite housing starts and closings.
  • Directly supervises sales staff and carries out supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent in addition to specific training in sales techniques.
  • Five years of related experience in sales and marketing, with supervisory experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the home building industry and sales strategies.
  • Strong customer-service orientation and ability to handle difficult situations.
  • Outstanding leadership, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with good judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong marketing skills with the ability to identify needed products.

Nice-to-haves

  • General construction knowledge and ability to read blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of the given market in relation to geographical locations.
