About the position

The Vice President of Shelter Operations at Lantern Community Services is responsible for overseeing the operations of multiple shelter sites, ensuring efficient and cost-effective systems are in place to meet the needs of the organization. This role involves direct supervision of site directors, collaboration with various stakeholders, and compliance with regulatory standards. The VP will also lead initiatives for operational improvements and manage facility projects, all while fostering a collaborative culture within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee three current shelter sites and any new sites added to the Shelter Division.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee activities to ensure efficient operations.
  • Supervise, train, and develop Directors of Program Operations (DPOs) and their teams.
  • Manage performance of direct reports through regular supervision and meetings.
  • Ensure quality deliverables are met within required timeframes.
  • Collaborate with property management companies and contracted security.
  • Ensure compliance with DHS and OTDA regulations.
  • Manage facility operations and oversee maintenance contractors.
  • Prepare for and be present for all inspections (OTDA/DHS).
  • Lead special projects including major repairs and contract management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant DHS Shelter experience with progressive responsibilities.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with Supportive Housing, Homelessness, Shelter, or Transitional Housing.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of best practices in shelter operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electronic systems such as Site Compli and Salesforce.
  • Experience working with clients with chronic health conditions and histories of chronic homelessness.
