About the position

The Vice President of Product Management at AmTrust Financial Services is a key leadership role responsible for developing and executing strategies that enhance the profitability, growth, and retention of Businessowners Policy and Package products. This position requires collaboration across various functional areas to align product management resources with countrywide and regional strategies, leveraging insights from data and market intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement short- and long-term product strategies that drive financial results for assigned line of business in partnership with regional leaders.
  • Lead the ongoing management and expansion of pricing sophistication, product capabilities, and underwriting appetite in assigned line of business.
  • Drive and lead enhancements to existing products and development of new products, including pricing strategies and segmentation enhancements.
  • Monitor new products at a granular level to optimize flow, competitiveness, and relative pricing.
  • Monitor line of business results and react quickly and effectively to growth and profit challenges.
  • Lead the development of new or revised underwriting positions and appetite.
  • Drive a deep understanding of marketplace insights, competitive intelligence, and regulatory issues to inform solutions.
  • Develop and implement monitoring standards to assess product results such as profitability analysis and claims trends.
  • Collaborate with Regional Vice Presidents to ensure countrywide strategies align with regional deliverables.
  • Understand changing customer and distribution requirements and respond to claims operational metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other related graduate level degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Commercial P&C insurance industry underwriting, actuary, claim, and/or product development, ideally with deep experience in Small Commercial.
  • Underwriting acumen and discipline, technical knowledge, and specialized experience in sophisticated product/pricing environments.
  • Sound financial acumen, understanding of P&L, and experience with setting and driving an operating plan.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop sound recommendations and generate new ideas for profitable growth.
  • Expert understanding of property and casualty insurance products, pricing models, systems, underwriting, claims, and distribution channels.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.
