About the position

The Vice President of Production Services - Infrastructure Support at BNY is responsible for managing and supporting Kafka infrastructure within the Technology Services Group. This hybrid role involves hands-on experience with Kafka and its ecosystem, ensuring secure data transmission, monitoring, and integration with other technologies. The position requires collaboration with support teams, incident management, and participation in on-call rotations to maintain high service quality and resolve critical issues.

Responsibilities

• Become highly skilled in confluent Kafka and its ecosystem, including tools such as Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and Schema Registry.
• Understand security protocols in Kafka, including SASL-SSL with Kerberos and TLS encryption.
• Utilize tools for Kafka monitoring, alerting, and deployment processes, such as TeamCity, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, and Ansible Tower.
• Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, training, and workshops to improve proficiency in Kafka API.
• Collaborate with support teams to ensure seamless integration of Kafka with other technologies.
• Utilize ServiceNow to manage and track incidents, problems, changes, and releases in the production environment.
• Follow established change management processes for production systems.
• Conduct thorough root cause analysis (RCA) for high-priority issues and document findings.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Kafka-related issues as part of the L1/L2 support team.
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for Kafka clusters.

Requirements

• Experience with Kafka API and its ecosystem.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Basic understanding of Java applications (Kafka JMS).
• Knowledge of security protocols including SASL-SSL, Kerberos, and TLS.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with ServiceNow for incident management.
• Familiarity with TeamCity and Ansible Tower.
