About the position

The Assistant Vice President or Vice President of Retail Business Development at Sompo International is a pivotal role responsible for driving business development strategies and enhancing agency relationships. This position, based in the LA office, reports to the Senior Vice President of Retail Business Development and plays a crucial role in raising the corporate profile and effectiveness of the company through strategic initiatives and business development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Drive key business development strategies in conjunction with agency/brokerage partners to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Serve as a single point of contact for agents/brokers regarding product support and quality service.
  • Lead efforts to deepen and extend agency/brokerage relationships.
  • Support the strategic management of key broker relationships and learn their businesses.
  • Identify and qualify new agency relationships and develop under-served territories.
  • Act as a primary source of business intelligence and internal communication.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years of industry experience in underwriting, product development, risk management, distribution strategy, needs assessment, and client relationship management.
  • Strong visibility and reputation within the agency community.
  • Ability to establish relationships in the local brokerage community.
  • Deep understanding of agent/broker marketing and distribution strategies.
  • Strong business development, client engagement, and relationship management skills.
