About the position

The Vice President, SBA Commercial Banker position at Western Alliance Bank is a senior role focused on managing and facilitating SBA lending processes, including the SBA 7(a), 504, and Express programs. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as a detailed understanding of commercial credit and loan structuring. The VP will collaborate with various teams within the bank to ensure compliance with SBA guidelines and to support the generation of new loan opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the SBA division team, Credit Administrators, and Loan Operations to manage loan requests.
• Draft Opportunity Memos for SBA loans based on information from relationship managers and lenders.
• Evaluate SBA eligibility and credit quality for loan approvals.
• Track and monitor decisions from SBA CAO and update Opportunity Memos accordingly.
• Deliver SBA team packages to lenders, ensuring a smooth handoff for loan processing.
• Participate in training opportunities with the Sales Team to enhance knowledge and support loan generation.
• Ensure compliance with internal processes and quality standards through audits and controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience.
• Minimum seven years of experience in SBA lending and commercial lending.
• Strong knowledge of SBA 7(a) and 504 lending programs and processes.
• Commercial credit analysis and loan structuring skills.
• Experience with audit processes and SBA compliance requirements.
• Minimum five years of experience working with Sales teams as an SBA Subject Matter Expert.
