About the position

The Vice President of Site Selection at Vantage Data Centers is a strategic leadership role responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing optimal locations for data center facilities. This position oversees the Site Selection team and manages all aspects of site selection, real estate negotiations, and the transition of sites to the Site Development Team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the data center industry and a proven track record in complex real estate transactions, ensuring alignment with Vantage's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the evaluation and selection of new data center sites in existing and emerging markets.
• Identify large industrial estates capable of supporting hyperscale data center campuses.
• Oversee all aspects of real estate negotiations, including landowner and broker discussions.
• Sign off on Letters of Intent and Purchase Agreements, coordinating with legal teams on closing activities.
• Track and monitor sophisticated real estate transactions, including acquisition of ownership interests in land and/or buildings.
• Review key metrics and market details for identified markets and sites, completing initial site assessments.
• Collaborate with various departments to align land acquisition goals with corporate strategy.
• Implement and improve processes for capturing information on project changes requiring lender consent.
• Drive standardization of loan agreements and manage post-acquisition transitions to the Site Development team.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements during acquisition and development processes.
• Provide support to the Site Selection team from concept through shovel-ready state across the portfolio.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Commercial or Industrial Real Estate, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in site selection or real estate; 15+ years preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with an understanding of real estate finance and discounted cash flow analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of land acquisition, zoning, environmental regulations, and infrastructure requirements.
• Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
• Proven project management abilities, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Data Center experience is strongly preferred, but not required.
• Working proficiency or fluency in French is advantageous.
• Flexible, adaptable, and self-directed; able to work in various circumstances.
