About the position

The Vice President of Site Selection at Vantage Data Centers is a strategic leadership role responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing optimal locations for data center facilities. This position oversees the Site Selection team and manages all aspects of site selection, real estate negotiations, and the transition of acquired sites to the Site Development Team. The role requires a deep understanding of the data center industry and a proven track record in complex real estate transactions, ensuring alignment with Vantage's strategic objectives and market demands.

Responsibilities

• Lead the evaluation and selection of new data center sites in existing and emerging markets.
• Identify large industrial estates capable of supporting hyperscale data center campuses.
• Oversee all aspects of real estate negotiations, including landowner and broker discussions.
• Sign off on Letters of Intent and Purchase Agreements, coordinating with legal teams on closing activities.
• Track and monitor sophisticated real estate transactions, including acquisition of land and buildings.
• Review key metrics and complete initial site assessments for internal review.
• Collaborate with various teams to align land acquisition goals with corporate strategy.
• Implement and improve processes for capturing project changes requiring lender consent.
• Oversee the transition of sites to the Site Development team post-acquisition.
• Manage qualified property management contracts during the pre-development period.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements during acquisition and development.
• Provide support to the Site Selection team from concept through shovel-ready state.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Commercial or Industrial Real Estate, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in site selection or real estate; 15+ years preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with understanding of real estate finance and discounted cash flow analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of land acquisition, zoning, environmental regulations, and infrastructure requirements.
• Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
• Proven project management abilities, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Data Center experience is strongly preferred, but not required.
• Working proficiency or fluency in French is advantageous.
• Strong IT skills: ability to use multiple communication tools and packages essential.
