About the position

The Vice President (VP) of Solutions Engineering at Vantage Data Centers will lead and oversee the Solutions Engineering team, which is responsible for developing and delivering innovative and effective solutions that meet customer needs and drive business growth. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of technology and customer requirements, who can manage a diverse team of engineers and work collaboratively across various departments. The VP of Solutions Engineering will ensure the highest standards of technical excellence and customer satisfaction, contributing to the overall success of the organization. In this position, the VP will develop and execute the overall strategy for the Solutions Engineering team in alignment with company goals and objectives. They will lead, mentor, and manage a team of highly skilled engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The VP will collaborate with senior management to define and prioritize engineering projects and initiatives, ensuring that the team is aligned with the broader organizational strategy. Customer engagement is a critical aspect of this role. Acting as the primary technical contact for key customers, the VP will build strong relationships and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. They will drive innovation within the Solutions Engineering team, staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, and implement best practices for software development, project management, and quality assurance. Cross-functional collaboration is essential, as the VP will work closely with sales, product management, and customer support teams to ensure seamless integration of solutions and successful project delivery. They will collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to influence product development based on customer feedback and market trends, ensuring effective communication and coordination between the Solutions Engineering team and other departments. Performance management will also be a key responsibility, as the VP will establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Solutions Engineering team to ensure high levels of productivity and efficiency. They will conduct regular performance reviews, providing feedback and identifying opportunities for professional development, while managing the team's workload to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, required.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or a related discipline, preferred.
  • 10-15 years of experience in solutions engineering, pre-sales engineering, or a related field, with a focus on technology solutions.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams in a customer-facing role.
  • Experience in the data center, cloud, or technology industry is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical background with a deep understanding of engineering principles, software development, and system architecture.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in software development methodologies, project management, and quality assurance practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing, data center operations, networking, and cybersecurity.
  • Experience with modern programming languages, development frameworks, and tools.
