About the position

The Victim Advocate position at the Children Who Witness Violence program is a full-time role focused on providing crisis intervention and support to children, families, and adults affected by violence and trauma. The advocate will work primarily in a drop-in center located within the Summit County Domestic Relations Court, offering essential services such as developing safety plans, providing referrals, and supporting clients throughout the court process. This role requires a compassionate individual who can handle sensitive situations and provide trauma-informed care to those in need.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention services to children, families, and adults affected by violence.
• Develop personalized safety plans for clients.
• Offer individualized referrals to meet client needs.
• Support and accompany clients throughout the court process.
• Provide trauma-informed, short-term crisis intervention during child watching services.
• Conduct intake assessments to better assist clients.
• Educate clients on their rights and assist with necessary paperwork.
• Maintain thorough documentation of client interactions and case files.
• Foster relationships with collaborative partners and local agencies.
• Participate in the Summit County Crisis Response Team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field is preferred.
• Experience providing direct services to children and families is preferred.
• Must reside within 25 miles of the main office.
• Ability to pass a state and federal background check.
