About the position

The Victim Advocate of the Child Advocacy Center at BestSelf Behavioral Health plays a crucial role in supporting primary and secondary victims of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse. This position involves working within a Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and advocacy throughout the investigative process, ensuring that clients receive the necessary resources and support.

Responsibilities

• Works independently with clients to provide crisis and supportive counseling.
• Provides assessments of needs and linkages to services.
• Develops and maintains a working knowledge of community resources and makes appropriate referrals.
• Provides empathy and compassion while adhering to all standards of client confidentiality.
• Communicates effectively and collaborates within all levels of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Participates in case review, staff meetings, supervisions, and other team meetings.
• Maintains appropriate data and case documentation for all assigned cases.
• Demonstrates professional behaviors and leadership skills in support of the mission of the Child Advocacy Center.
• Acts as an advocate on client's behalf with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or community mental health, or a master's degree in one of these fields (substituting for one year of experience).
• One year of experience in providing supportive services.
• Valid NYS driver's license and automobile in good working order.
• Accredited NYS Defensive Driving course certification or obtain within 15 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves
