About the position

The SASP Advocate at the Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center is responsible for providing comprehensive services to victims and survivors of sexual assault. This role utilizes a trauma-informed approach to deliver crisis intervention, hospital accompaniment, and advocacy throughout the criminal justice process, ensuring that victims receive the necessary support and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention services and referrals through the existing 24-hour hotline.
  • Accompany and advocate for victims through medical, criminal justice, and social support systems, including medical facilities, police, and court proceedings.
  • Provide crisis intervention and comprehensive service coordination to assist sexual assault victims and their family or household members.
  • Offer short-term individual and group support services.
  • Connect clients to additional programming, including court advocacy, law enforcement victim advocates, and housing opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field.
  • Understanding of sexual assault issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively deal with stressful situations and handle crises as they arise.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required.
