About the position
The Victim Advocate (SHARP) position within the Department of Defense is focused on providing comprehensive advocacy services to individuals affected by sexual harassment or sexual assault. Responsibilities
- Provide professional advocacy services to victims of sexual harassment and sexual assault.
- Conduct assessments to determine client needs and evaluate safety and risk levels.
- Develop assistance plans based on urgency and client assessments.
- Conduct educational workshops and seminars for victims and community agencies.
- Ensure victims receive guidance and emotional support during medical, investigative, and legal processes.
- Accompany victims to secure medical treatment, shelter, protective orders, and court hearings.
Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Possess a valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Maintain active D-SAACP certification and up-to-date commander appointment orders before having victim contact.
- Complete required SHARP training and obtain D-SAACP certification within 6 months of start date.
