About the position

The Victim Advocate (SHARP) position within the Department of Defense is focused on providing comprehensive advocacy services to individuals affected by sexual harassment or sexual assault. The role involves assessing client needs, ensuring victims receive necessary support throughout various procedures, and conducting educational workshops to raise awareness about victim services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional advocacy services to victims of sexual harassment and sexual assault.
  • Conduct assessments to determine client needs and evaluate safety and risk levels.
  • Develop assistance plans based on urgency and client assessments.
  • Conduct educational workshops and seminars for victims and community agencies.
  • Ensure victims receive guidance and emotional support during medical, investigative, and legal processes.
  • Accompany victims to secure medical treatment, shelter, protective orders, and court hearings.

Requirements

  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Maintain active D-SAACP certification and up-to-date commander appointment orders before having victim contact.
  • Complete required SHARP training and obtain D-SAACP certification within 6 months of start date.
