About the position
The Victim Advocate position at ARCC involves providing direct services to victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence, as well as other forms of interpersonal violence. The role focuses on establishing a safe and supportive environment, offering advocacy, counseling, and various support services. The advocate will work closely with clients, ensuring adherence to program rules and promoting client well-being through a trauma-informed approach. This full-time position requires collaboration with program staff and community resources to effectively support clients' needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual crisis counseling, follow-up counseling, and group counseling.
- Offer information and referrals to clients.
- Support clients in navigating the criminal justice system through advocacy.
- Provide emergency financial assistance and legal advocacy.
- Deliver mobile services and accompaniment for off-site counseling and advocacy.
- Maintain accurate records and meet deadlines for documentation.
- Engage in systems advocacy as required.
- Attend staff meetings and collaborate with team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Two or more years of related experience in a human service field, college education, or previous training.
- Completion of ARCC counselor/advocate training.
- Strong organizational skills including management, office skills, and record keeping.
- Effective writing and speaking skills.
- Knowledge of and concern for victim issues.
- Basic computer skills and required clearances.
- Ability to work independently with a strong focus and task-oriented approach.
- Non-judgmental and open personal qualities with a clear sense of boundaries.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Knowledge of community resources for high-risk populations.
