About the position

The Victim Advocate position is a full-time role focused on providing direct services to victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The advocate will offer counseling, support, and advocacy, ensuring a trauma-informed care environment. This role requires collaboration with program staff and involves working directly with clients to promote their well-being and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual crisis counseling, follow-up counseling, and group counseling.
• Offer information and referrals to clients.
• Support clients in navigating the criminal justice system through advocacy.
• Provide emergency financial assistance and legal advocacy as needed.
• Deliver mobile services, including off-site counseling and accompaniment for clients in legal and medical systems.
• Maintain accurate records and meet deadlines for documentation.
• Engage in systems advocacy as required to support client needs.
• Attend staff meetings and collaborate with team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Two or more years of related experience in a human service field, college education, or previous training.
• ARCC counselor/advocate training.
• Strong organizational skills including management, office skills, and record keeping.
• Effective writing and speaking skills.
• Knowledge of and concern for victim issues.
• Basic computer skills and required clearances.
• Ability to work independently with a strong sense of focus and task orientation.
• Non-judgmental and open personal qualities with a clear sense of boundaries.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Knowledge of community resources for high-risk populations.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working one-on-one with adults and at-risk youth.
