The Victim Compensation Claims Analyst position is located within the Office of the Attorney General in Tallahassee, Florida, specifically in the Victim Compensation Unit. This role is crucial for processing claims and payment determinations, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the Bureau of Victim Compensation. The incumbent will be responsible for resolving compensability issues and independently determining eligibility for victim compensation benefits in accordance with established statutes, administrative rules, and procedures. This must be done within two business days of receipt, with a strict adherence to accuracy and no margin of error. The position requires generating requests for information and utilizing correspondence from various stakeholders, including victims, applicants, attorneys, financial institutions, and medical providers, to finalize determinations. In addition to processing claims, the analyst will perform criminal history background checks for victims and applicants using the Criminal Justice Information System, ensuring accuracy in eligibility assessments. The role involves direct communication with law enforcement and criminal justice entities to gather necessary information regarding claims and the status of prosecutions. The analyst will also contact victims to provide updates and instructions, verify costs related to criminal victimization, and authorize payments in compliance with relevant statutes and rules. Responding to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner is essential, as is maintaining confidentiality and adhering to public records laws. The position demands a high level of communication skills, both verbal and written, to ensure that information is conveyed clearly and professionally. The analyst will be expected to meet quantitative performance metrics, processing a minimum of 30 claim determinations and 50 expenses paid monthly. Quality assurance measures must be finalized promptly, and the analyst may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
