About the position

The Alarm / Video / CCTV Field Service Technician at Bear Communications Inc. is responsible for installing, programming, and maintaining various security systems, including video surveillance and access control systems. This role requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently. Technicians will work directly with customers, ensuring a professional demeanor and appearance while managing multiple technical disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and resolve equipment problems and software application issues with customers.
  • Configure, test, and optimize video and access control security systems, integrating them into automated alert and messaging systems.
  • Manage and deploy factory software/firmware updates.
  • Conduct annual preventative maintenance tests and create detailed reports for customer review.
  • Conduct site walks and participate in presale quoting of security systems.
  • Stage and deploy computer server infrastructure and related software applications.
  • Provide oversight of communications equipment and peripheral hardware installation as a team lead.
  • Deliver and execute customer Functional Acceptance Test Plans (FATP).
  • Prepare written reports and communicate verbally with customers and colleagues.
  • Train technicians on troubleshooting and repair procedures.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Service Technician experience in diagnosing, repairing, programming, installing, and commissioning video and access control systems.
  • Proficiency in operating various test equipment including utility software applications, network testers, and multi-meters.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Alarm License certification.
  • Two or more computer or computer networking certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+).
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent, or military training in electronics.
  • Experience with Avigilon or similar video and access control security systems.
