About the position

Bloomberg News is one of the largest financial and business news organizations globally, recognized for its breaking news and in-depth analysis of financial markets. The organization prides itself on quality, accuracy, and the ability to deliver actionable news to investors. As part of its ongoing growth, Bloomberg Media is expanding its global reach through innovative projects, including Bloomberg Originals and the New Economy Forum. We are currently seeking a Video Editor for a 6-month contract position based in New York. This role is integral to Bloomberg Media's newsroom, specifically within the Video and Design team that supports our APAC coverage. The team collaborates closely with colleagues in various global locations, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, and London, and works alongside the Global Newsdesk and TV Assignment Desk. The Video Editor will be responsible for producing video content under tight deadlines, often in a fast-paced environment, and will have the opportunity to work on both quick-turn news clips and longer-form projects. The Video Editor will create a variety of video elements, including quick news clips, produced soundbites, multicam interviews, and video explainers. They will handle breaking news workflows efficiently and accurately, ensuring that all content meets the high standards expected by Bloomberg. The role requires proficiency in creating and modifying template graphics, managing media storage, and following best practices for project organization. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team. They will also need to stay updated on industry trends in video production and editing styles, demonstrating flexibility in working hours to accommodate global news events.

Responsibilities

  • Create video elements including quick turn news clips, produced soundbites, multicam interviews, and video explainers.
  • Handle breaking news workflows in a quick, concise, and accurate manner.
  • Create and modify template graphics such as headshots, charts, and maps.
  • Multi-task and utilize various editing tools based on assignment and project deadlines.
  • Organize and follow best practices for media storage and project organization.
  • Be proactive and responsive to breaking news, working independently and as part of a team.
  • Source content and create elements using an extensive internal library and other sources.
  • Take projects from concept to completion in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Deliver content to multiple destinations, familiar with digital platforms and metadata requirements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends in video, animation, and editing styles.
  • Be flexible with working hours to accommodate global production schedules and news events.
  • Work well under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of newsroom experience.
  • Expert level experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of VIZrt.
  • Experience working with cloud-based editing tools.
  • Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization.
