About the position

Rogers Broadcasting is seeking a skilled and adaptable individual for the position of Editor/Assistant Director. This part-time role, requiring approximately 20 hours per week, offers an hourly rate of $16. The successful candidate will play a dual role, primarily focusing on video editing while also assisting in directing tasks. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a creative environment and enjoys taking on multiple responsibilities. The Editor/Assistant Director will be responsible for producing high-quality video content that aligns with project specifications and the company's brand standards. Collaboration with producers and directors is essential to ensure that the final edits are polished and delivered on schedule. In addition to video editing, the role includes assistant director duties, which involve coordinating and managing the production team, handling logistical tasks, and contributing to shot composition. The candidate will also be expected to perform various support tasks on set, such as equipment setup and organization, managing scheduling, and addressing on-set needs. The position requires working efficiently within the constraints of a broadcast van, ensuring smooth operations and effective communication in a confined space. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in video editing, with proficiency in software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro. Familiarity with assistant directing and production workflows is a plus. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities are essential for success in this role. Responsibilities

  • Edit video footage to produce high-quality content that meets project specifications and company standards.
  • Collaborate with producers and directors to understand project needs and deliver polished final edits on schedule.
  • Maintain consistency with the company's brand and visual style.
  • Assist in coordinating and managing the production team, including crew members and talent.
  • Handle logistical tasks to ensure efficient on-set operations, including equipment setup and organization.
  • Contribute to shot composition and framing, supporting the creative vision of the project.
  • Perform support tasks such as being a grip, getting coffee, and addressing other on-set needs.
  • Manage scheduling and coordination tasks as required.
  • Work comfortably and efficiently within the constraints of a broadcast van's small space.
  • Ensure smooth operation of equipment and effective communication with the team in a confined environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in video editing, with proficiency in software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar.
  • Familiarity with assistant directing and production workflows is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with a knack for managing various on-set responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with others.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for both editing and directing.
  • Prior experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential.
