About the position

The Video Editor position involves editing video packages for various content types, including special events, politics, breaking news, and documentaries. The role requires creativity and sound news judgment to produce engaging content while ensuring high-quality standards in video and sound. The editor will collaborate with correspondents, photographers, and producers to conceptualize story presentations and will also assist in training new video editors.

Responsibilities

  • Edit video packages for special content, politics, breaking news, and documentaries.
  • Support efforts to enhance the customer experience.
  • Transcode and convert content for editing.
  • Format video and edit special opens.
  • Edit voice-overs, sound bites, packages, and shows for air.
  • Create interesting content using creativity and sound news judgment.
  • Ensure all video and sound meet quality standards and maintain the established editorial tone.
  • Conceptualize story presentations with correspondents, photographers, producers, and management staff.
  • Analyze subject material and select equipment, lighting, angle, and background for desired effects.
  • Choose and utilize a variety of photographic equipment, including lenses and lighting.
  • Assist in training new video editors.
  • Use photo software to modify and create images that meet defined style requirements.
  • Edit and enhance images, applying special effects and color correction as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro CC.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with editing software and equipment.
  • Ability to read video scopes and audio levels.
  • Understanding of digital workflows and file-based delivery.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of operation and office policies and procedures.
  • Ability to handle various tasks simultaneously and work efficiently under deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with Dalet newsroom software.
  • Ability to write and speak Spanish.
  • National news experience.
