About the position

News 12 is seeking a skilled Video Editor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for editing video for various news programs, live coverage, breaking news, and other productions and promotions. This role requires a commitment to delivering high-quality news and storytelling with a hyper-local lens, ensuring that the final product accurately and fairly represents the news. The Video Editor will work both independently and collaboratively with a team to transform raw video and audio into polished, finished products that meet the standards of our award-winning news station. In this position, the Video Editor will create tagged commercials for cross-channel and broadcast, analyze and recommend solutions for editorial, procedural, and operational needs, and work closely with Lead Editors and Design teams to optimize editorial processes. The ability to work efficiently within time constraints is crucial, as the editor will need to meet weekly and monthly advertising and non-advertised requirements. Flexibility is key, as the role may require adapting to changing requirements throughout the day to support the needs of other teams. Additionally, the Video Editor will be responsible for creating and developing both internal and external company communications, collaborating with a team of other editors to effectively accomplish team goals, and performing other duties as assigned by the management team. Responsibilities

  • Create Tagged commercials for cross channel and broadcast.
  • Analyze, develop, and recommend solutions for editorial, procedural, and operational needs to ensure quality videos are developed for both web and broadcast.
  • Work closely with Lead Editors and Design teams in order to optimize the editorial processes.
  • Work efficiently within time constraints to meet weekly and monthly advertising and non-advertised requirements.
  • Be prepared to deal with changing requirements in a given day to meet the needs of other teams and the tools.
  • Create and develop both internal and external company communication.
  • Work with a team of other editors to effectively accomplish team goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of digital post-production experience; editing in Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • 2+ years working in a high-pressure environment meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of digital workflows and file-based delivery.
  • Strong understanding of frame rates, aspect ratios, and resolutions.
  • Ability to read video scopes and audio levels.
  • Demonstrated strong editorial judgment.
  • Proven experience editing content for a variety of digital platforms, in non-traditional formats and resolutions.
  • A team player who can work flexible hours including evenings, early mornings, and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and After Effects is a significant plus.
