About the position

The Video Editor position at San Diego Gulls is a part-time role that plays a crucial part in documenting and producing content for both internal and external events. This position requires a creative individual who can function effectively as both a videographer and an editor. The Video Editor will collaborate closely with game operations and arena staff to plan and develop special events and game presentations, contributing significantly to the entertainment value of the San Diego Gulls through the editing of team videos, commercials, marketing materials, and social media content. In this role, the Video Editor will be responsible for editing both supervised and unsupervised sessions as directed, ensuring that the final product is polished with appropriate color correction and audio mixing. The position also involves shooting and lighting on green screens, in studios, or in various field locations. The ideal candidate will bring innovative ideas to enhance the fan experience continually and will work with various in-house departments to assist in the creative development and fulfillment of branding initiatives. Other duties may be assigned as needed, making flexibility and adaptability key traits for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Work with game operations and arena staff on planning and development of special events and game presentation.
  • Contribute to the San Diego Gulls entertainment by editing content for team videos, commercials, marketing, and social media support.
  • Edit supervised and unsupervised sessions as directed.
  • Deliver finished video with color correction and audio mixed for delivery.
  • Shoot and light on green screen, in a studio or in the field.
  • Provide innovative ideas to continually modify and improve fan experience.
  • Work with all in-house departments as needed to assist with the creative development and integrated fulfillment of all initiatives as needed to help ensure an optimum branding presence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year video editing experience, preferably in a professional sports environment.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of various video cameras and lenses for broadcast, ENG, and cinema shooting.
  • Knowledge of digital media concepts and applications required to deliver completed projects to broadcast outlets, websites, and social media platforms.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in sports and hockey is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Good storytelling skills, music, and visual design sensibility is required.
  • Creative and self-motivated with a passion for sports and live event presentation.
  • Knowledge of available in-house presentation & multi-media resources and control room equipment.
