News 12 is our award-winning, hyper local news station covering communities throughout Long Island, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Westchester, Hudson Valley, Connecticut and New Jersey. News 12 New York is our National streaming service for regional news, weather and News 12 originals. News 12 is looking for the right candidate to edit video for news programs, live coverage, breaking news and other productions and promotions. The Video Editor will work independently or as part of a team to create pictures and sound which accurately and fairly represent the news, taking raw video and audio and turning it into finished product. The role requires a strong understanding of digital workflows and the ability to work under tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment. The Video Editor will be responsible for creating tagged commercials for cross-channel and broadcast, analyzing and recommending solutions for editorial, procedural, and operational needs to ensure quality videos are developed for both web and broadcast. Collaboration with Lead Editors and Design teams is essential to optimize editorial processes, and the ability to adapt to changing requirements is crucial. The position also involves creating and developing both internal and external company communications, and working with a team of other editors to effectively accomplish team goals. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about storytelling through video editing. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in digital post-production and will be expected to perform other duties as assigned by the management team.

Responsibilities

  • Create Tagged commercials for cross channel and broadcast.
  • Analyze, develop and recommend solutions for editorial, procedural, and operational needs to ensure quality videos are developed for both web and broadcast.
  • Work closely with Lead Editors and Design teams to optimize editorial processes.
  • Work efficiently within time constraints to meet weekly and monthly advertising and non-advertised requirements.
  • Be prepared to deal with changing requirements in a given day to meet the needs of other teams and the tool.
  • Create and develop both internal and external company communication.
  • Work with a team of other editors to effectively accomplish team goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of digital post-production experience; editing in Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • 2+ years working in a high-pressure environment meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of digital workflows and file-based delivery.
  • Strong understanding of frame rates, aspect ratios, and resolutions.
  • Ability to read video scopes and audio levels.
  • Demonstrated strong editorial judgment.
  • Proven experience editing content for a variety of digital platforms, in non-traditional formats and resolutions.
  • A team player who can work flexible hours including evenings, early mornings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and After Effects is a significant plus.
