About the position

The Video Editor position at PCI Government Services involves a comprehensive role in video production, encompassing pre-production, production, and post-production phases. The successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, target audiences, and messaging. This includes developing concepts, scripts, and storyboards for various video projects, as well as planning and organizing video shoots. Responsibilities also include scouting locations, casting talent, and coordinating shoot schedules, ensuring that timelines are prepared and resources are allocated efficiently. The role requires securing necessary equipment and crew for shoots, ensuring that all logistical aspects are managed effectively. During the production phase, the Video Editor will oversee the video shoot, directing talent and crew to achieve the desired creative vision. This includes operating video cameras, lighting, and audio equipment to ensure technical quality during filming. The candidate must be adept at troubleshooting any technical or logistical challenges that may arise during the shoot. In the post-production phase, the Video Editor will edit raw footage into polished, cohesive video content using software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve. This includes adding graphics, animations, sound effects, music, and voiceovers as needed, as well as performing color correction and audio balancing to enhance the video's quality. The editor will review and revise edits based on feedback from stakeholders or clients and export final video files in the appropriate format for the platform. Additionally, the role involves archiving and managing digital assets, including footage, project files, and final videos. Project management is a key aspect of this position, requiring the Video Editor to maintain clear communication with clients and team members throughout the project lifecycle. The candidate will manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and ensuring that all content adheres to brand guidelines and quality standards. Staying updated on industry trends, techniques, and new video production tools is also essential for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Film, Media Production, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience (2 years) as a video producer and editor with a portfolio showcasing a range of projects.
  • Proficiency with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects).
  • Strong understanding of camera operation, lighting, and sound recording.
  • Excellent storytelling, creative direction, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with motion graphics or animation.
  • Familiarity with color grading and advanced sound design techniques.
  • Experience supporting federal or state government agencies, particularly public-health-focused agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
