About the position

The Video Editor position at Open Door Church involves manipulating film and video footage to create coherent and complete projects that accurately reflect the vision of the film director. The role requires managing various media elements such as footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics, and special effects to produce high-quality video content. The Video Editor will collaborate closely with the ODX Manager to establish the desired vision for each project, ensuring that all media is gathered and transferred correctly, including audio, video, and graphic files. This position may require working some weekends and nights to support the church's activities and ministries. In this role, the Video Editor will be responsible for editing videos to include preselected music, interviews, and sound clips, ensuring that the final product meets production specifications for audio, video, and graphic formatting. The editor will work on both long-form and short-form videos intended for digital channels, social media, and internal communications. The position also involves editing videos for worship experiences, television, and digital platforms, requiring a creative eye for storytelling through video and a strong attention to detail to maintain high production quality. The Video Editor will also perform other duties as needed by the department, contributing to a fast-paced environment that handles high-profile projects. This role is essential in delivering engaging video content that supports the church's mission and outreach efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Manipulate film and video footage to create coherent projects that reflect the director's vision.
  • Work with the ODX Manager to establish the desired vision for each project.
  • Gather and transfer all forms of media including audio, video, and graphic files.
  • Edit video to include preselected music, interviews, and sound clips.
  • Ensure correct audio, video, and graphic formatting for finalized videos according to production specifications.
  • Work on long-form and short-form videos for digital channels, social media, and internal communications.
  • Edit videos for worship experiences, television, and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate in a fast-paced environment on high-profile projects.
  • Perform other duties related to the needs of the department.

Requirements

  • Degree in film, television, video journalism, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in video production or equivalent experience.
  • Skilled in directing, shooting, and editing video.
  • Knowledge of lighting, sound, graphics, and video engineering.
  • Experience with After Effects and/or Premiere Pro.
  • Creative eye for storytelling through video.
  • Attention to detail and striving for excellence in production quality.
  • Effective leadership and development of volunteers.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
