About the position

The University of California, Irvine is seeking a part-time lecturer for the Spring Quarter 2025 to teach a course in sound design for video games. The position requires a strong background in sound design, with a focus on both practical and theoretical aspects, and a commitment to teaching in a university environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach sound design for video games primarily in-person, with some remote instruction possible.
  • Develop course materials and curriculum related to sound design.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.

Requirements

  • An MFA in Sound Design or equivalent professional experience is required.
  • Outstanding professional credits in sound design for video games, including conceptualization, recording, middleware, programming, asset creation, asset delivery, mixing, and testing/modifying.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
  • Strong commitment to teaching and training in a university setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in inter-departmental workflow and collaboration in sound design projects.
  • Previous teaching experience at the university level.
