About the position

WHYY is seeking a dynamic and creative Storyteller Video Producer/Editor for a temporary full-time position. This role is focused on producing high-quality video content that engages and informs audiences across multiple platforms, particularly in relation to the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. The ideal candidate will work closely with the television production team to craft compelling narratives and contribute to WHYY's video content strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, research, and produce video stories that reflect diverse communities and the historical significance of the Declaration of Independence.
  • Shoot, edit, and produce video segments for broadcast, digital platforms, and social media.
  • Craft compelling narratives through skillful editing using tools such as Adobe Premiere and Avid.
  • Collaborate with WHYY producers, directors, and the digital team to ensure cohesive storytelling across all platforms.
  • Contribute to the development of WHYY's video content strategy, identifying opportunities to expand reach and impact.
  • Meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality across all produced content.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in video production, editing, and storytelling, preferably in a documentary or media organization setting.
  • Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere, Avid, etc.).
  • Familiarity with camera equipment, lighting, and sound.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with motion graphics, animation, or graphic design is a plus.
  • Previous experience working in public media or a similar nonprofit environment is a plus.
