About the position

The Video Producer at the Los Angeles Lakers plays a crucial role in enhancing the team's brand affinity and engaging with future fans through the creation of compelling video content. This position is situated within the Marketing + Communications department and reports directly to the Manager of Video Production. The primary responsibility of the Video Producer is to conceptualize, create, shoot, and edit video content that showcases the Lakers, South Bay Lakers, Laker Girls, and various community initiatives. This content will be distributed across multiple platforms, including the team's website, mobile app, in-arena displays, and social media channels. The Video Producer will be tasked with producing both short and long-form video clips, which will include team news, press conferences, organized events, corporate partnerships, and community activities. The role requires a creative individual who can work collaboratively with other members of the Marketing + Communications team to generate innovative video content ideas. The Video Producer will also be responsible for planning and capturing video in diverse settings, including structured shoots, press conferences, media sessions, and team events. In addition to shooting and editing, the Video Producer will utilize graphics and effects to enhance video content, integrating highlights, archival footage, voiceovers, sourced music, and interview footage. The role demands proficiency in setting up lighting, audio equipment, and cameras, including multi-camera shoots. The Video Producer will also be responsible for updating and posting video content using the NBA Content Management System (CMS) and ensuring that all video adheres to the standards of various social media platforms. Staying current with advancements in videography, including camera technology and software, is essential for success in this role. The Video Producer will also assist with special projects as needed, adapting to the evolving needs of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, plan, shoot, and edit video content for the Lakers and associated teams.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing + Comms Department to generate video content ideas.
  • Plan and capture video in various settings, including structured shoots and press conferences.
  • Edit video utilizing graphics and effects, integrating highlights, archival footage, voiceovers, and music.
  • Shoot videos for social media platforms such as Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.
  • Set up lighting, audio equipment, and cameras for shoots, including multi-camera setups.
  • Update and post video content using NBA CMS and for social media properties.
  • Stay updated with changes in videography, including camera technology and software.
  • Work closely with the Marketing + Comms Department to ensure quality and consistency in video content.
  • Assist with other special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred).
  • A minimum of two to three years of experience in film/video production, preferably in sports.
  • Experience with Canon Cinema EOS and Sony Cinema Line cameras is preferred.
  • Highly proficient in Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, and Media Encoder.
  • Knowledge of lighting packages, filters, lenses, and audio equipment.
  • Familiarity with social media platform video standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Flexible and adaptable, maintaining productivity under pressure.
  • Passion for sports and understanding of sports cycles and operations.
  • Knowledge of basic news gathering techniques with attention to detail and accuracy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of basketball (preferred).
