About the position

The incumbent will serve as a Videographer organizationally aligned to the Office of the Medical Center Director, Public Affairs Division at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center. This position is crucial for the development and production of video content that supports the mission of the VA in providing exceptional health care to veterans. The Videographer will independently make decisions, design, execute, and produce video products, as well as provide photography and graphic design work for various media support materials. This role requires a deep understanding of the targeted audiences and the appropriate forms of media to effectively communicate information. The Cincinnati VA Medical Center (CVAMC) serves a large area, including 15 counties in Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana, with multiple community-based outpatient clinics. The Videographer will coordinate video production for all projects, developing concepts, production timelines, and schedules for video shoots. They will also be responsible for editing and delivering final products for distribution. In addition to video production, the incumbent will design and execute printed materials such as signage, newsletters, and pamphlets, ensuring that all materials are tailored to the needs of the audience. The role involves selecting visual materials to be incorporated into visual aids, producing displays that effectively communicate information, and preparing draft layouts to maximize visual impact. The Videographer will utilize various software tools, including Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite, to create complex graphics and written materials. They will also coordinate the layout and design of printed materials for reproduction, ensuring high-quality outputs that meet the needs of the Medical Center and its community-based clinics. The position requires participation in planning and executing visual information production projects, as well as maintaining and managing the equipment and tools used in the production process.

Responsibilities

  • Produce displays using effective typography, layout, color, and graphic elements.
  • Research reference sources and consult with subject matter experts for accuracy.
  • Prepare draft layouts to convey effective visual design before final production.
  • Create complex graphics and written materials using software like Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Coordinate layout, design, and execution of printed materials for reproduction.
  • Participate in planning and executing visual information production projects.
  • Maintain and manage equipment, tools, and workspace used in production.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-09 level.
  • Experience in operating standard and specialized camera and film processing equipment.
  • Knowledge of the subject matter being photographed is required for some positions.
  • Ability to demonstrate technical competence through samples of work or other evidence.
