About the position

The Videographer at Journey Dance Competition is responsible for capturing high-quality video footage of live dance performances and award ceremonies using a single-camera setup. This role requires a keen eye for motion and composition, as well as the ability to manage a software-based switcher for livestreaming. The position demands exceptional attention to detail and stamina, as the videographer will be filming for extended periods during fast-paced events. The ideal candidate will thrive in a live-event setting and be passionate about videography.

Responsibilities

• Operate a single-camera setup from a stationary riser to capture dance performances and award ceremonies.
• Manage a software-based switcher and control the Livestream during events.
• Conduct quality checks and ensure camera settings are perfect before the event starts.
• Load in and load out production equipment, and set up and break down the filming station.
• Capture video footage from a stationary position throughout the entire event, maintaining consistent quality and focus.
• Set up and monitor livestream throughout the event.
• Maintain branding guidelines and a high level of excellence when capturing performances.
• Organize and maintain all video footage and equipment.
• Attend to all other duties assigned by the Event Director(s) as needed.

Requirements

• Experience in videography or knowledge of dance is crucial.
• Ability to capture quality videos from a stationary position throughout the entire event.
• Stamina for shooting for long periods of time during events.
• Experience shooting live-action or sports in low-light environments.
• Ability to correctly adjust exposure, white balance, focus, and maintain framing.
• Capable of troubleshooting technical issues as they arise.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs to 50 lbs without assistance.

Nice-to-haves

• Dance or entertainment industry background is a plus but not required.
