About the position

Under the general direction of the Digital Communication Manager, the Videographer performs senior, highly advanced communications-related work to build the DSHS brand and increase public and stakeholder knowledge and awareness of public health issues. This role is crucial in creating visual content that effectively communicates public health messages and engages the community. The Videographer will be responsible for producing high-quality video content that aligns with the agency's goals and objectives, ensuring that all materials are informative, engaging, and accessible to a diverse audience. The position requires regular attendance and adherence to the agency's leave policy, with the expectation of performing other duties as assigned. In the event of a public health emergency, the Videographer may be required to work extended or alternate hours to support the agency's emergency response efforts. This role offers extensive latitude for the use of initiative and self-management, allowing the Videographer to take ownership of their projects and contribute to the overall mission of the agency. The ideal candidate will be a competent, responsible, and hardworking individual who is passionate about public service and improving the health of individuals, communities, and the state of Texas. Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality video content to promote public health messages.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Communication Manager to align video projects with agency goals.
  • Manage video projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Attend public health events to capture relevant footage and interviews.
  • Edit and finalize video content for various platforms, including social media and the agency's website.
  • Ensure all video materials are accessible and engaging for diverse audiences.
  • Participate in agency emergency response efforts as needed, including extended hours during public health emergencies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of eighteen (18) months of relevant experience working for DSHS during Covid.
  • At least 1 year of experience in filming and video production.
  • Strong understanding of public health issues and effective communication strategies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in social media management.
  • Ability to commute to Austin, TX.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
